Ey up guys. 2nd phase (or whatever it’s meant to be called) of lockdown is meant to end tomorrow here in the UK. Will people take the piss with less restrictions? Of course they will look what happened last time. Anyway, below you will find discussion & spoilers regarding Black Clover 290 Raw and recap of the most recent chapter of Black clover, Heavy spoilers. Enjoy!
Black Clover Chapter 289 Discussion:
So we ended things last week with Asta basically vivisecting the Fire Devil Naamah. We carry on from there as the pieces start to fall, but are suddenly frozen in place by Lilith. She comments that this is a shame, yet you wouldn’t think so given the look of twisted glee on her face. She then claims this means they will be able to Truly play together. Both devils then appear to be cloaked in……..black goo? symbiote-kinda stuff?
The next page reveals what this means, which is a new fused four-horned, four winged Devil. With it’s eyes in the middle of it’s horned face, one above the other. Well that was creepy. Clearly, as Nacht notes, their is more to their power than a simple combination technique.
Asta reacts……exactly how you’d expect. Or maybe not. He just yells how they’re probably awesome but as he has no magic he can’t really tell. Oh Asta, never change you potato-brained loveable dumbass. Fire and Ice then erupt around them, rising high into the sky above the castle with all the roots following it. Asta smashes his way through these in pursuit as everyone sees what this Devil had in store. The title of the chapter: Freezing Sun. A gigantic ball of ice and fire bigger than the castle itself.
As everyone stares on helplessly in horror, the Devil says Even if you’re unharmed, everyone else will die. That sort of thing hurts, doesn’t it? Somehow this reminds me of Sheldon Cooper in it’s odd analysing emotion from an outward perspective (yeah yeah we all watched The Big Bang Theory at some point don’t go givin me that stink-eye). The Devil then drops the ball (pun somewhat intended?) and Asta charges declaring all they did was create a bigger spell, and he can do the same.
We then see the biggest Black Divider yet, bigger than Asta himself, which he slams into the ball and pushes, slowly forcing it back whilst the civilians look on with their jaws on the floor. Then we get a panel of a foot appearing out of what appears to be a portal saying C’mon man. Then the next page the foot-owner is revealed to be…….Magna. The top of his head in shadow, Magna continues Just how big are you going to get? The Devil looks on as Asta ends his sword wing throwing it back in it’s face.
MAGNA AND ZORA ARE BACK. I REPEAT, MAGNA AND ZORA ARE BACK. MAGNA WATCH IS FINALLY AT AN END. OK fanboy moment over, holy moly this chapter was awesome. I knew Naamah wasn’t going to just die like that, it seemed way too easy for that to happen. The way they did it was interesting too, leaves some questions about just how the Devils function and if this is a spell unique to these two or some of the others. The giant Black Divider was awesome, you could almost hear the Haruka Mirai coming through the pages. And man, if these are just two of the high ranking Devils just what else is there in store………
Black Clover Chapter 290 Spoilers & Predictions:
So if this next chapter isn’t full on Magna then I don’t what it. Kidding, but god I hope we get to see what he has packing after all this time. If the Freezing Sun just explodes in the Devil’s face that’d be hilarious honestly. I wonder if these two are a Bleach deal. In Bleach there were several characters where there seemed to be two but were actually one soul split in two; Coyote Starrk + Lilinette, Zaraki Kenpachi + Yachiru Kusajishi, Mask de Masculine + James…….these could be the same deal.
As Nacht said, this wasn’t just a DBZ style Fusion. There seemed to be something more at work, and given how when we were introduced to Lilith and Naamah they both had one horn each on opposite sides of their face, and the same with their arms, it’s almost like they fit like a jigsaw…….if this is a technique all Devils could do then oh boy there would be no way for our guys to win that fight like at all.
If by any chance we have anything else, I could see Asta hitting the ground and meeting up with the other Clover and Heart Kingdom mages. Or someone else reacting to what’s going on up top, perhaps the final few pages would be a hint to a different story thread or battle going on, there’s plenty to pick from.
