What’s up guys? The latest episode of Jujutsu Kaisen introduces us to more characters, gives us a cool fight and expands on the lore. Read on to find out what happened in the latest episode of Jujutsu Kaisen but do make sure that you’ve caught up with the anime to avoid spoilers in this post!!
JUJUTSU KAISEN EPISODE 8 Discussion:
This week we see some new characters introduced in Jujutsu Kaisen. We also get a glimpse into Maki Zennin’s past. Nobara and Megumi are running errands when they come face to face with sorcerers from the Kyoto school who have come to Tokyo to talk about their exchange event. Students Todo and Mai provoke Megumi and Nobara. Todo is a special grade sorcerer as revealed by Gojo later in the episode while Mai is Maki Zennin’s estranged sister.
Todo and Megumi battle it out with Megumi getting a major beatdown from Todo. Megumi is almost forced to end up using his ultimate technique against Todo but the battle is stopped in time with the arrival of Panda and Toge who uses his speech powers to stop Todo from attacking Megumi. Maki meanwhile stops her sister from hurting Nobara further.
Maki then reveals to Nobara about how she doesn’t have cursed energy unlike her family members and instead uses objects and weapons infused with cursed energy to battle. Maki also reveals that she’s training to be a Jujutsu Sorcerer in order to spite her clan, the Zennins, who look down on her for having been born with no cursed energy.
Then we see Gojo meeting up with the old principal of the Kyoto school. He mentions his fight with Jogo and lets the old man know that the younger generations are getting stronger and stronger and are becoming impossible to even classify. He mentions Hakkari, Todo and Yuta as being special grades and extremely powerful. Gojo makes it clear that he power that the elders tried to control is descending on them in the form of the powerful curses and the increasingly powerful students.
Then we cut to a movie theater where three high school kids are found to have died in a gruesome fashion. Outside another kid Junpei meets up with the most confusingly iconic villain of the series yet, Mahito. We then get introduced to another iconic sorcerer Nanami as he and Yuji are seen investigating the cinema incident. We also get a tiny extra scene of Mai meeting up with Takada at the behest of Todo and liking the idol indicating that Mai might be into women!
JUJUTSU KAISEN EPISODE 9 PREVIEW:
Jujutsu Kaisen episode 9 will probably focus on Yuji and Nanami encountering Mahito during their investigations as evident from the preview. Anime only fans are in for a treat as you will get introduced to one of the most popular characters in the Jujutsu Kaisen fandom, Nanami as he develops into Yuji’s mentor.
Looks like the anime will focus on the development of Mahito and Junpei’s arc for the next couple of episodes! There have been a lot of comparisons of this series with Naruto especially due to Gojo’s character traits and attitude being similar to Kakkashi and Megumi’s similarity to Sasuke but Naruto will be the last thing on fans’ minds as the series delvesinto Junpei’s arc and further.
It is to be noted that none of the characters know that Yuji is alive and is in training under Gojo and Nanami. Gojo plans to reveal the secret on a later date, probably during the exchange event. He exchange event would take place soon with students from the Tokyo and Kyoto schools participating. You can, for sure, expect some amazing battles there!!
