A real clash of ideologies comes between the two brothers on discovering the truth of their clans history, James feeling guilt and empathy towards the humans in the demon realm and wishes to do something for them, whilst Peter believes it was the correct decision, to stop a war, you need to make sacrifice. Who was right? A real moral dilemma occurring, but Julius did get his peace, at a price, but still, he got the peace he sought after.
We see the background of James becoming William Minerva, and how Peter ordered his elimination to protect the peace between humanity and the demons, and the inner guilt Peter also seems to carry buried deep within, whilst trying to justify 1000 years of his clans actions and history, was Peter really making the decisions, or was he shackled to this twisted fate, bearing the culminated weight of the guilt every Ratri leader had before him.
Emmas pleas for Peter to join him fall on deaf ears, Peter just feels that even without demons, humanity would find ways to oppress itself, demons being the perfect reflection of what humanity actually looks like. All of this overwhelms Peter, and the only action he can take if his own life, ending 1000 years of Ratri rule, the end of one era, and the birth of Emmas new era.
