Black Clover Chapter 248 Discussion:
Last time on Black Clover.…….Luck and Svenkin were duking it out, and seemed pretty evenly matched. We get a mini flashback to training, and surprisingly it seems Luck didn’t drive Gaja insane like I expected given each’s temperament. We get a little more explanation on just what Rune Magic and True Magic do, and how they contribute to the power system. We see Magna went to Heart, but was turned away when he couldn’t produce the necessary quantity of mana required/his magic stage was too low. It sucks to see Magna get put down like this, but the way it’s done makes me suspect this ain’t it for him, there’ll be more out there for him to do yet. It was unexpected that Zora was offered Heart Kingdom training yet turned it down, seeing as he was stated as one of the ones with potential to take on a demon. Then again he doesn’t exactly listen to others particularly well now does he.
Svenkin gets a little more creepy with his magic, sprouting several holes around his body as……I think they’re cannons? But then Luck avoids this by just getting faster, though appears to take some damage still. Then he finally lays a hit that does actually hurt the guy. And finally we see just how much Luck has mastered during his training; he turns himself into a living lightning bolt, Ceranos, and managing to finish off Svenkin. Ceranos may be a reference to Cerunnos, the Celtic God of Wild Beasts. Fitting for the wildest member of the Black Bulls.
When the leaks came there were complaints about the power system being upended just to prove the Black Bulls best. But now see it, I don’t think so. Luck didn’t win because he was stronger; he was faster, that was the edge he had in this fight. I think this is why he won where the Spirit Guardian had fallen, because he was able to outpace his opponent instead of trying to just be stronger.
Black Clover Chapter 249 Predictions:
This fight is over, so we’ll move onto the next one in Black clover 249. One down, three more to go. We still got Ball Guy, String Guy and Hair Guy left (Well it’s not like we have names for them yet, and I’m guessing this is what their magic is so we’ll see yet). It could be any of them and any Magic Knight. I suspect Noelle will stay and guard Loropechika alongside Gaja and Undine, which would leave the other three up to Leopold, Mimosa and Charmy to face.
I have no preference as to which Knight goes next as I’m intrigued to see what all of them have to offer. As Luck was able to exploit Svenkin’s weakness, I suspect the others will do similarly. Though that is if they win at all, I feel one may lose. As Leopold was such a surprise mention for one of the Six with the potential to defeat a demon I think he won’t lose, as Tabata wants to prove why he was picked instead of others who may have been expected to have the potential. Whoever it is, having to wait another two weeks is going to be such a drag (next week in Japan is Golden Week, a National Holiday so no chapter till the week after)
