Black Clover Chapter 261 Discussion:
And so the heartbreak begins. The Bulls are back at the capital being healed. Owen, one of the healing mages who’s dealt with the Bulls before, informs them Asta isn’t in any danger but his black arm is a complete unknown. Finral and Vanessa look (unsurprisingly) broken. Finral has a look of almost, for lack of a better term, responsible guilt? I guess because Finral has felt like a big brother and sub-leader to some of the younger kids. Gauche is given a quick look over and it seems not only did Grey heal his gigantic bloody sword wound, but that this is more than mere healing, as Owen states Grey may not even have Transformation Magic at all.
Skip to later in the night and Asta awakes suddenly in a panic. He looks over as his Grimoire opens and out pops………Yami’s Katana. And oh boy, the look of despair and horror on his face as he almost breaks down again……..he then runs straight outside and is immediately immobilised by an unknown assailant. Said assailant questions Asta’s intentions, and when Asta replies that he intends to go rescue Yami the other person states this is a foolish endeavour and proceeds to taunt Asta by mocking Yami.
Obviously Asta is pissed off and uses Demon Destroyer to cancel the spell holding him down and goes for Demon Dweller to attack this mysterious figure……..before they plant him to the floor with many hands. They continue to taunt Asta and mock Yami, before revealing their identity; they are Nacht, vice captain of the Black Bulls aka Yami’s right-hand man. And also a Devil User……
First off, who else thought Nacht was a chick? That aside I’m happy we finally got this character revealed as the rest of the Bulls had been revealed over 100 chapters ago at this point. Given how this fight/confrontation went, as well as Nacht’s previous appearance, I’m inclined to think Nacht’s magic is something like Shadow Magic. Like everyone else I suspect Grey’s True Magic may be some kind of Reassemble Magic, perhaps somewhat like Overhaul, just less psychotic. This was an emotional read but a good one nonetheless.
Black Clover Chapter 262 Spoilers & Predictions:
Given Owen stated there would be a Captain’s meeting, I think next chapter will likely be this meeting. With Yami and William gone, I imagine Nacht and Yuno will act as their stand-ins for this meeting. If Asta tags along this will certainly be an emotional reunion, and a difficult one too. If Damnatio is there, which I hope not, it will only make things harder and worse to process as he will likely try to make some demand of Asta being arrested or other such nonsense.
I still think Julius will have retired “from the public eye” and there will be a new Wizard King which I think will most likely be Fuegoleon. Either way I hope there will be some new designs for some of the Captains. Charlotte and Jack’s reaction to Yami’s defeat and kidnapping are the ones I want to see the most. Julius too, seeing how he saw Yami and William as apprentices of his (hell they probably were seeing as they’ll all have spent time in the Aqua Deer together)
We may jump over to the Heart Kingdom and see how they are dealing with their attacks/defeat. What will have happened to Undine with Loropechika kidnapped is a good question, will they have been taken together or will she be stuck in the Heart Kingdom without her. Who survived, who took the most damage is still anybody’s guess.
Whether Nacht will explain more about the devils to Asta immediately is anyone’s guess, he may just wait and tell him at the meeting or rally the Bulls altogether. Given how we haven’t seen Magna and Zora since the timeskip so seeing them now after everything that’s happened will be a more mixed reunion perhaps.
