Otose, the landlady of Gintama and the owner of Otose’s Snack may look like a very rude and rough woman but she has a heart of gold. When she found out about Catherine’s past, she forgave her and did not kick her out. Otose made Catherine promise to change her lifestyle and make an honest living.
8. Kanade
Anime: Beast Tamer
The original Japanese title is Yuusha Party wo Tsuihousareta Beast Tamer, Saikyoushu no Nekomimi Shoujo to Deau. Probably one of the longest anime titles I have seen in my life.
Kanade is one of the major protagonists and the first companion of the main protagonist Rein Shroud. She is a beast from the cat clan and she is a fierce warrior. Kanade has a serious savior complex and she also is a pervert, what a weird combination!
Above all, Kanade is a beautiful and friendly character who is loyal and kind to Rein and his other companions. When the lives of her friends are on the line, she will not hesitate to sacrifice herself.
7. Ryouchou-sensei
Anime: Maria Holic
Maria Holic is a GL chibi anime with top-notch comedy. It is a dorm room comedy drama where Ryouchou-sensei, mostly known as the dorm leader, takes care of the second dorm. The character is voiced by the great Miyuki Sawashiro, who also voiced Bishamon from Noragami, Daki from Demon Slayer, and Kanbaru Suruga from Bakemonogatari.
Though Maria Holic is not a fantasy anime, how Ryouchou-sensei has actual cat ears is a mystery that no one can solve. She has a major God complex and often expects the dorm residents to address her as God. Maybe she thinks of herself as a Nekogami, who knows? Maybe she is an actual Nekogami!
Ryouchou-sensei is a no-nonsense woman and owns a dog. She, with the help of her dog, keeps order in the dorm with an iron rule. She is not someone you should mess with.
6. Daru Dayu
Anime: Show by Rock!!
Show By Rock!! is a cute-girl-doing-cute-things anime adapted from a music-based mobile game. Daru Dayu is a lead vocalist and a musician herself. She plays a traditional Japanese musical instrument named Ayatsuri Mugen Taiko. It is a drum-like instrument you might have noticed being played when in live Shoran Bushi.
In the original material, the mobile game, Daru Dayu is shown to be wearing a Daruma Doll costume with cat ears. Her real features were a mystery until the anime was released. Daru Dayu has violet hair with white cat ears. She wears a traditional Kimono and smokes a pipe.
Daru Dayu has made appearances in all the sequels of Show By Rock anime. She is voiced by the famous voice actress Megumi Han who is known for her work in Hunter X Hunter (2011) as Gon and in Naruto Shippuden as Uchiha Obito.
5. Eris
Anime: Cat Planet Cuties
Eris is the main protagonist of the anime Cat Planet Cuties (Asobi ni Iku yo!). She is a teenager belonging to the race of Catia from the planet of Cat People. She is voiced by Kanae Itou who is known for voicing Boa Hancock from One Piece.
Eris is a very friendly girl and is serious about fulfilling her duty as an ambassador of her planet. Currently, she is exploring the earth and making new friends with both humans and cats.
Cat Planet Cuties gives the same vibe as Sailor Moon and Urusei Yatsura. But beware, it is a harem and reverse harem anime with a lot of Ecchi scenes. For many, It might not be the ideal choice of an anime.
4. Neferpitou
Anime: Hunter X Hunter (2011)
Neferpitou was a very important antagonist in the Ant Chimera Arc of Hunter X Hunter manga and the anime from 2011. They are voiced by Ayumi Fujiwara who is also known for voicing Misaki Ayuazawa from Kaichou wa Maid-sama.
Veteran anime fans, even those who have not watched Hunter X Hunter yet, are more or less familiar with Gon’s Rage scene. Well, this cat person Neferpitou was the reason behind his wrath.

The gender of Neferpitou was not revealed in the manga, but their appearance kind of suggests they are a girl. Among the three guards of the Chimera Ant King, they are the first one to be born.

3. Shousouin Sasana

Also known as Nekogami Yaoyorozu, The Everyday Tales of a Cat God is a chibi anime with the theme of cute-girls-doing-cute-things. Not only Shousousin Sasana, this anime is filled with cat god characters with cat ears and tails and they are all oh so cute!
Shousouin Sasana is a cat god. She is the personification of a black cat and she is betrothed to another cat god named Mayu, the main character of this anime. Her weapon of choice is a magical wooden sword which turns into a musical instrument on her command.
2. Baron Humbert Von Gikkingen
Anime: The Cat Returns
AKA The Baron first made his appearance in the Ghibli film named Whisper of the Heart in 1995. Due to his immense popularity, he was brought back in the movie The Cat Returns in 2002 with a bigger role.
Baron Humbert Von Gikkingen is the only male character with cat ears on this list. Well, he is an actual cat that wears human clothes and walks on two feet, but he does have cat ears. So he still counts, right?
In The Cat Returns The Baron is shown to work in the cat bureau in the Cat Kingdom. When Haru gets taken into the Cat realm by force making her a partial cat so she can marry the Cat prince, it is the Baron who helps her get out of the realm and to her real world.
The Baron is a charming character with some great fighting skills. You will love him once you watch the movies.
1. Hanekawa Tsubasa (Kuro)
Anime: Nekomonogatari
Release date-wise, Kuro Hanekawa first makes her appearance in the final arc of Bakemonogatari. Chronologically, it was in Nekomonogatari. The title literally means Cat Tale.
If you think that Kuro Hanekawa is a black cat, you are completely wrong. The cat version of Hanekawa has snow-white hair and often wanders around in just lingerie. And she is not just an ordinary cat. Kuro Hanekawa is possessed by a tailless cat that can drain energy just by the tough.
Her demon cat takes control over her body whenever Hanekawa is super stressed and Oshino Meme (That’s right, his name is Meme, and he is the best character in the world!), the great Shinto exorcist/priest described this energy-draining ability to be quite troublesome. In fact, it was so troublesome that only Oshino Shinobu, the child version of Kiss-Shot Acerola-Orion Heart-Under-Blade, could defeat her. Now, that is what you call a badass cat.
The entire universe of the Monogatari series is composed of bizarre phenomena and interesting characters. The family background of Hanekawa Tsubasa, her academic excellence, her polite behavior, and the way she values friendship make are one of the most interesting and complex female characters in all the anime universes.
